How recruiting works when the ratings are hidden
In Kickhollow, every recruit has a true rating and ceiling that nobody sees, ChatGPT included: you get a public star rating, which is sometimes wrong, and your own scouting range, which narrows each time you scout him. You spend 10 recruiting hours a day on scouting, calls and official visits, offer scholarships, and on Signing Day each recruit signs with the offering school he likes most.

How to recruit a class
- Look at the board. Each season's class has 40 prospects with a position, a star rating and a trait. The stars are the recruiting services' opinion, not the truth.
- Scout the ones you like. A scouting trip takes 2 hours and narrows the range of his current rating. After two trips your scout also guesses his ceiling.
- Call and visit. A call (1 hour, once a day) raises his interest and tells you what he cares about: early playing time, a winning program, or his relationship with the coaches. An official visit (5 hours, once a season) raises it a lot.
- Offer. A scholarship offer costs no hours, but you have only as many as your graduating seniors and open roster spots, and an offer can't be taken back.
- Signing Day. After the 9th game day, each recruit signs with the offering school he likes most, if he likes it enough. His true rating shows once he's on your roster.
What each recruiting action does
Recruiting hours refill to 10 at midnight in your conference's time zone; unused hours don't carry over.
| Action | Hours | Limit | What it does |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scout | 2 | 4 trips per recruit | Narrows your range for his current rating; after 2 trips, a ceiling grade |
| Call | 1 | Once a day per recruit | Raises his interest; reveals what he cares about |
| Official visit | 5 | Once a season per recruit | Raises his interest a lot, more if your program fits what he wants |
| Offer | 0 | Your open scholarships | Lets him sign with you; raises his interest a little |
Recruits who care about winning also react to your results each game day. Computer-coached schools recruit the same class every day.
Use it in ChatGPT
Kickhollow Football is a ChatGPT plugin. Try one of these:
- “Let's play Kickhollow. Start me a program in a town called Cedar Ford.”
- “Play today's Kickhollow game and call the action.”
- “Scout the top quarterback on my Kickhollow recruiting board.”
Questions
Can ChatGPT tell me a recruit's real rating?
No. It never receives it. It can repeat your scouting range and the star rating, and that's all anyone knows until he signs.
Are star ratings useless, then?
No. They're usually close, but about one recruit in six is misrated by a whole tier, in either direction. Scouting is how you find the hidden gems.
Do my friends recruit the same players?
Yes, everyone in a conference recruits from one class. Once you've offered or visited a recruit, the card shows which school he leans to.
What happens to recruits nobody signs?
They go elsewhere. Each season brings a new class of 40.
